Possible to do surgery on a naturally high forehead?

Postby Krallemano » Thu Feb 03, 2011 5:42 pm

Hi, i have had a high forehead since i was a kid. It is about 7cm from between the eyebrows to the hairline. And from the eyebrows it is almost 8cm (i have a v-shaped forehead).

What i wonder is, if i can do a surgery where i never had any hair? I have blond and pretty thick hair everywhere else, so that wouldnt be a problem. I am soon 17 y old. And how much would that cost? For like 2 cm of smaller forehead, and i would not want any scar at the backside of my head.

I live in Sweden if that matters.

Thanks in advance everyone!

Most physicians will not lower a hairline below 7 cm above the glabella, which is the line drawn between the eyebrows.

At age 17, you are going to need parental consent. The first thing anyone needs to know is whether you are going to loose hair. One way to evaluate this is to look at your family history. if you have a family history of hair loss, you are best to wait. if you don't have one, you still might loose hair. If you build a new lower hairline at age 17, you may find that it is too low later on when you begin to have significant hair loss.

Hair line lowering is more commonly done in young females than in young males. There is a genetic test you can take to see if you are are more likely to loose your hair. If it is positive, it only means you are more likely to loose your hair. if it is negative, it does not mean that you will not loose your hair some day. All it does is give you some ideas. The test is called HairDX.

Hello,

I also have the same problem with a naturally high forehead, and want my forehead reduced. Even though I have not experienced any balding (yet, knock on wood), my hairline looks similar to a Type II-A, but slightly lower. I am a 24-year old Asian male. No relatives on my dad's side experienced balding, while some on my mother's side did and some did not. Those that did started losing hair when they were well into their 40s. My hair at the hairline is still very solid and dense, so I don't think I will be balding anytime soon, maybe in 10 years. I have very dense hair in the back of my head, so I am thinking a FUE/CIT transplant is my best option. If I experience balding down the road, I will just keep a shaved head or very short hair look. So I don't think that is a problem. Is the FUE/CIT procedure suitable for me?

I would hold and wait...hair transplant will not match your natural hair density and it might not look equal. If you start lossing hair on your existing hair later on then you can start with hair transplantation.
