HT Pitting

Postby learnthehardway » Tue Jun 13, 2006 3:45 pm

 Had 1st HT about 6 weeks ago...500 grafts to fill in some areas of recession .(between a NW1 and NW2)..spent alot of time researching and thought I had the right guy...(Saw three of his patients..One I knew personally who had phenomenal results)...well...with me all the graph sites have moderately to severely pitted...and haven't shown any improvement...

I imagine this will not improve with time...and when I see it in the light,,my stomach literally turns over....(my only saving grace is my existing hair is long enough to camouflage it for now.)

At this point..just wondering if there is any hope of smoothing out the graphsite area...I'm going back this Friday to see him,,but from reading these forms...I sincerelly doubt that it's gonna help,,and I'm wary of any suggestions he might make...so I imagine I might need to find another surgeon to correct the damage...or wondering if there is a more conservative approach

Looks like I'm in it for the long haul...hoping for a solution..any feedback or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.. Thank You....

Learn,

Can you post some photos? It can be hard to understand the situation with just a description. I think it makes sense to follow up with your doctor, at the very least to collect information about what is going on.

If there is a concern, I know Dr. Cole will be happy to review your photos and have a meeting with you. We have alot of repair experience here so, if it is necessary, we may be able to help.

Stay positive.

Hey Guys...thanks so much for your replies.....I really appreciate it as I'm struggling terribly with this right now..and as you know I can't really talk about this with anyone who is close to me...I did speak to a representative from Dr. Cole's office..she was very helpful...but mentioned I would have to wait at least 8 months for any corrective surgery as it will take at least this long for all the graphs to grow in ..... (I'm thinking of flying to Atlanta,,,just for a sit-down to discuss my options)

I'm visiting my surgeon tomorrow to show him the damage..and what I discussed with Dr. Cole's rep was this was caused by the placement technicians....who when I think about it...one of the first things I heard one of the nurses say when I arrived for my surgery.. "oh...I've been studying for like 8 final exams".,,I could tell she was out of it...she mentioned it at least twice...and gave the overall feeling like she didn't want to be there...I remember thinking at the time..."well..at least she's not operating on me"....guess I found out the hard way....

At this point I'll reserve putting out the doctor's name as I want to see what he has to say...and I will also try to take some photos and post them to show the damage....

All in all...I know I arrived at this decision on my own...I thought I had the right guy...but WOW!!!...it's like every graph site has pitted...

I live in Los Angeles....and we usually have overcast mornings....when I drive to work in the morning, I'll open the sunroof and look in my rear view mirror...the shadow cast really shows the depth and contour of the pits....It makes me want to cry.....and I know when the hair does grow in..It won't hide them....

I also realize,,,that HT's are not perfect..and I did not want to be perfect...I was looking to add some density....and the way I style my hair and with my existing hair...I thought I could have a decent result.since mine was a relatively small procedure....and the guy I saw who my doc had worked on....really even up close you couldn't see anything....(I was also aware that I would need more surgery's in the future)..

Sorry for running on...I just wanted to get some of these thoughts out...and again...I really do appreciate you guys for posting replies...it helps to here back from you....

I'll post those photos soon....

Thanks!!!!

This is a photo of the left side...in this light...it doesn't look as bad as it is....usually when a shadow is cast...you can really see the depth and they're everywhere.

HI Learn the hard way,

I just have to say I have been theorught the same thing, exept I live in the UK so I went to the first person to show me a nice looking portfolio of photos,
its just horrible when a minor bit of hairloss makes you down and you try and fix it and you feel like you have fallen through the floor into some other wolrd thats nothing like your real life....

The good news is that I'm sure your work is going to be no worse than mine, and Dr Cole & team are superb, you will get out of this so just hang in there, 8 months will fly by! There is never enough time.
